We opened the 4 star Park in 1998, with 60 spacious level grass
pitches, most with 16 amp electric hook-ups. We now have some hard-standings
available and a separate sheltered tenting area with designated pitches where
cars can be parked alongside your tent. This is also where our new Timbertents are situated, and therefore at busy times,
we have additional tent pitches further down the Park,
where cars can again be parked alongside your tent.
Our
Scandinavian style amenity building offers excellent facilities including
free showers and privacy cubicles. These are kept clean to the highest of
standards by ourselves and our visitors and we look after them as best we
can. There is also a small laundry, separate disabled shower-room and dish
washing area.
Our small reception has plenty of tourist information to help you plan your
stay - whether it is to venture into Edinburgh or to tour the area - or to
travel further afield. As there are many shops and supermarkets in the area,
we only have a few sweets etc. for sale, but milk, newspapers and rolls can
be ordered daily.
Well behaved dogs - and children - are most welcome, and for
the children we have a large sandpit with plenty toys to help you dig and build.
Dogs should be kept on leads around the Park, although ours sometimes set a
bad example by coming across just to check out the visitors. We have a lovely
dog walk off the Park which leads to a path which goes to the Union Canal and
to Almondell Country Park. This path can sometimes be muddy so do come prepared.
A sheet of walks is available in Reception to help you explore around us.
We are also very proud, that for the last few years, we have been awarded the
David Bellamy Gold Conservation Award, and we try to look after the environment as best we can.
To this end, we now offer recycling of paper, glass, plastic, cardboard and cans and
your help in separating these out is much appreciated. The recylcing is situated beside our Herb Garden, where visitors are welcome to help themselves to herbs to enhance their cooking during their stay.
Television reception in the Park is very good and if your TV is tuned in, Channel 5 is received too.
For visitors wanting to access the internet, we now have wi-fi in the Reception area. Our local library in East Calder also has free access through their own computers.
